Why Does the Clock Lose Time When I Turn Off The Computer!
The most simple reason is that computers today could have an on board battery, These batteries need to be replaced as a normal part of maintenance but are neglected by most technicians.
The battery is used to supply current to a CMOS component while the machine is turned off. This component is used to hold the time and various setting of you system.( referred to as the CMOS BOIS settings).
Replacement can be done by a non technical person (please refer to you technical manual on the system board) but we suggest that you have a qualified technician replace the battery as a normal part of maintenance. The battery cost ranges from about $ 2.00 -$ 5.00 and is certainly worth replacing every two years whether you need it or not.
